South Carolina DNP Programs (RN Required)

  • The College of Nursing at the Medical University of South Carolina has an online DNP program available. Contemporary aspects of clinical practice are addressed and students gain the knowledge and skills for leadership roles in health policy, research application, evidence-based practice, and health system evaluation and improvement. Infrequent campus visits are required for selected courses. Post-master’s students take two to four years to obtain their degree. This will depend on whether they are studying full-time or part-time. Post-baccalaureates usually take between three and five years to complete the requirements. Students are admitted once a year into the Fall semester.   • The DNP program at the University of South Carolina is CCNE accredited and offered by their College of Nursing. Graduates are trained for leadership roles in a variety of advanced clinical disciplines. They operate as the most qualified Clinical Nurse Practitioners and scholars. There is an online option with choices to study either full-time or part-time. Those entering at the baccalaureate level will need to set aside four years for study. South Carolina DNP Nurse Checklist

We advise contacting each school and familiarizing yourself with their application procedures. Schools have their own strict requirements and competition is tough. Submitting your applications before their deadline dates is imperative and all required documentation must be included. A history of academic accomplishment is compulsory and certain scores must be maintained throughout graduate coursework. This includes nurses who enter a bridge program at the BSN level. They will only move onto the doctorate if they achieve acceptable grades. Below we list what you will need when applying to a DNP program in South Carolina:

  • Licensure to practice unrestricted as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in South Carolina is compulsory.
  • Submit scholarly papers or other examples of your creative written work.
  • Statistics, nursing theory and research courses must have been completed with a minimum grade of C. They may not be older than five years.
  • Provide three reference letters from professionals such as doctors, nursing colleagues, employers, supervisors or academic mentors.
  • A background check on you is inevitable and you must provide records of your latest medical checkup. You must prove protection against certain diseases through vaccinations.
  • National accreditation must be proven of the programs where you completed baccalaureate and graduate studies.
  • An overall Grade Point Average score on a scale of 4.0 must be no less than 3.0, or even 3.5 for some schools.
  • Proof of all clinical hours accrued through graduate studies and professional advanced nursing must be provided.
  • All academic pursuits, voluntary experiences and professional histories must be included in your final Curriculum Vitae.
  • The school will require you to write an essay about your professional goals. Your career objectives must be clear and explain the importance of doctoral graduation.
  • Each school where you obtained an education since graduating from high school must submit official transcripts for you.
  • Attend a formal interview with the school in a timely fashion.
