Schools With BSN Programs in Oregon

Concordia University in Portland offers a four-year BSN degree for students fresh out of high school with no previous nursing experience. During the first two years, students will gather their general education credits and during the last two years, they will gather mostly nursing curriculum credits. Individuals who complete the program will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination.

Those in or around the Newberg area can take advantage of George Fox University, which is a Christian-based school. The major in nursing at this university prepares students to take on the role of a registered nurse in healthcare facilities of all kinds. Accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Oregon Board of Nursing, this program boasts a high NCLEX-RN first-time pass rate – over 98%.

Linfield College offers both a traditional four-year BSN program as well as an RN to BSN completion program for registered nurses who want to earn their Bachelor’s degree. Individuals must have a GPA of 2.75 on prerequisites in order to be considered for admission.

Oregon Health & Science University offers a three-year BSN degree which requires 180 credit hours to complete, including prerequisites. The program is a combination of classroom instruction and exciting laboratory and clinical experiences. Individuals are able to work directly with patients under the supervision of faculty, which provides confidence and knowledge they will draw from throughout their entire career. Those who complete the program will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam.

Through the Oregon Institute of Technology, men and women can earn a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing in just three years. The program requires 180 credits to complete, including all general education courses. Topics studied throughout the program include things like End of Life Care, Epidemiology and Pharmacology. After completing the three required years and earning all the needed credits, individuals can graduate with their degree and seek licensure as a registered nurse in Oregon.

The University of Portland offers a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing as well. This program is guided by nine different student-centered outcomes, which all reflect professional nursing standards, skill, knowledge, and abilities. The program is a three-year program that combines classroom instruction, laboratory experiences and clinical practice to create qualified, competent nurses.
