One of two schools with MSN programs in New Mexico, New Mexico State University boasts numerous MSN options through their School of Nursing. Those who want to go the traditional route will need to have already earned their BSN degree from an accredited college or university. Current RNs who hold a diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing may be admitted; these applicants are judged on a case-by-case basis. To be accepted, students will need to have taken a graduate-level course in Statistics within the past 5 years and must be CPR-certified. This school also offers the Roadrunner program, for those with a Bachelor’s degree in another field, as well as the RN to MSN program.

The University of New Mexico’s College of Nursing – Health Sciences Center offers up a couple of different pathways to an MSN degree as well. The traditional method requires students to have their BSN and trains students to take on roles as Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners, Family Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Administrators, Nurse Educators, Nurse Midwives and Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Become licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of New Jersey.
Enter one of the two accredited MSN programs in the state and choose a specialty if desired.
Fulfill state-mandated requirements regarding supervised clinical hours, if applicable, prior to the end of the MSN program.
Apply for licensure with the New Mexico Board of Nursing and include the required fee ($100).
