Schools With LPN Programs in Oregon

  • For men and women in or around the Gresham area, Mt. Hood Community College offers a practical nursing program that lasts four terms. The majority of the program is offered online, and individuals can also take night and weekend classes. Clinical experiences take place in healthcare settings around the community. The course requires completion of 60 credits to graduate. Those who do graduate will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN).
  • Central Oregon Community College’s nursing program provides a career ladder with a practical nursing exit after the first year. Students who follow this track will receive a certificate in practical nursing which will qualify them to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam. The program contains both classroom instruction and clinical experience, where students will work with real patients to gain valuable knowledge that will assist them throughout their career.
  • Located in Grants Pass, Rogue Community College offers a one-year practical nursing program; upon completion, individuals will receive a practical nursing certificate. In order to be accepted into the program, individuals will need the required prerequisites as well as to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • A practical nursing program is also provided by Umpqua Community College, where students learn valuable skills and knowledge needed to be a successful practical nurse. Clinical experiences take place in various settings, including Mercy Medical Center, VA Medical Center and Rose Haven Nursing Center. In order to be approved, individuals must pass a background check and drug screening, and must score satisfactorily on placement examinations. The estimated cost is $95.50 per credit for in-state students.
  • Clatsop Community College offers a four-quarter practical nursing certificate program, which is very limited. Classes begin in spring and fall of each year, and each application is evaluated on a point scale basis that includes GPA, course work, residency, previous degrees and an essay.
  • Like most other practical nursing programs in Oregon, Treasure Valley Community College’s practical nursing program is part of a ladder program. After four quarters of the Associate of Applied Science program, individuals will receive a practical nursing certificate. This makes them eligible to take the NCLEX-PN examination to become a practical nurse.
  • The Carrington College practical nursing program in Portland offers high-quality training that helps men and women become excellent practical nurses. The program fuses classroom instruction with clinical experiences that provide knowledge and skills required to be the best possible practical nurse. The program also creates a fantastic foundation for those who want to continue their education to become registered nurses in Oregon.
  • Pioneer Pacific College in Wilsonville offers a 50-week practical nursing program. At the end of the program, individuals earn a practical nursing diploma which will make them eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam. The course combines traditional classroom work with lab experiences and clinicals that take place in healthcare settings throughout the community. The estimated total cost of the program is $29,320.
  • Oregon Coast Community College’s practical nursing program is part of their Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing. After the first year, individuals can receive a certificate that will allow them to sit for the NCLEX-PN. Admittance is very competitive at OCCC, and only 20 students are admitted each spring to begin lessons in the fall of that year.
  • Currently, the only school that offers an online LPN program is Mt. Hood Community College. While individuals can take the majority of the classroom instruction online, they will still need to take part in their clinical experiences throughout the community at various healthcare locations.
